Got one step closer to this one yesterday, an offer from LaTrobe! They were my first choice, so YAY!

I have twice attempted to compile my own table of results for Hipstamatic, but the trouble with taking hundreds of photos of the same still life for the purpose of comparing filters is that I get easily bored. So twice I have failed.

This latest attempt is more of a project, I am taking a photo with each combination of lens and film (no flash at this stage, as it complicates things unnecessarily) but the pictures can be of anything I want, and I am trying to do them one day. Photos 1 through 4 were taken on random dates in 2011, but the rest should end up being a sequential photo diary of sorts. . .

Results will be posted here intermittently, and at the end I might try to create an actual gallery in order for comparisons.

Here is a list of (most) of the resolutions I have made for 2012.

  • Complete Hipsta table (356 photos) as a one a day project. (Hipstamatic camera app for iPhone.)
  • Blog every day (either blog, not necessarily both.) One per week only can be Hipsta table related.
  • Become a teacher somehow.
  • Small photo business plans: develop portfolio, get website and business cards, 5 sets of photos for money over the year!
  • Date! Get set up, or be nicer to people, or just ask them out.
  • Take all (non financially strenuous) opportunities that are presented.
  • Be mindful.
  • Give up alcohol, potentially for the full year, but review month by month as necessary.

Sometimes I wonder what home is. Is it an actual place? Or is it a kind of longing for something, some kind of connection?

My list has changed (again.) It seems to be evolving into more of a bucket list, as I sift through what is actually important to me, things that I think will give my life meaning.

This is how it currently stands.

1 Meet the family in Yugoslavia.
2 Skydive or glide.
3 Learn a second (fluent) language.
4 Write a book.
5 Change someone’s life.
6 Fall in love. (in a healthy non destructive way)
7 Become a teacher.
8 Have an exhibition.
9 See the Northern Lights.
10 Road trip around Australia (in a van.)
11 Fly first class.
12 Ride a motorbike.
13 Fly in a hot air balloon.
14 Scuba dive.
15 Take a risk.
16 Go to Antarctica
17 Do a trek (like Macchu Picchu trail)
18 Conquer a fear (all fears?)
19 Make a film.
20 Raise a child.
21 Visit all of the world’s greatest cities.
22 Visit the world’s greatest natural wonders

What is subversive about love, originally uploaded by simonevukotic.

I’m trying to come up with a manifesto of sorts, a clear setting out of the things that are important to me and give my life meaning. Love is and must be at the very top of that list.

About a year ago I put the 101 things in 1001 days project on hold, partly as I was heading overseas for an unknown period of time and partly because my priorities had changed to the point where I no longer felt my list reflected what I want out of life.

Since then I have had the most amazing year of adventure and self exploration and have returned to my life here with a completely different perspective about myself and the life I wish to lead. Not that I think the aims on my 101/1001 were worthless, just that I feel myself moving in a different direction now.

I am leaving the fruits of my effort up on this blog, but the future of this project (the project being ‘ME’) is changing. This space will chart my progress as I try to continue learning, living, loving and contributing to my community to the best of my ability.

I’m excited about the future and all the possibilities that are laid out before me.

It’s official: I’m putting this project on hold.

There is too much to do right now, and in a couple of weeks I’m going to be moving overseas for who knows how long. I don’t have time to be thinking about how many books I’ve read or albums I’ve listened to.

I’m leaving this blog active, as when I’m settled I may wish to resume or reshape this project.

Until then, you can follow my adventures over at my travel blog. Adieu, ciao, see ya!

In light of the fact that I’m going overseas in less than three weeks, and looking through my list and finding it a bit removed from the way I’m feeling right now, I’m considering putting this journey aside for now.

No decisions yet, we’ll see how I feel in a week.

Laura Marling – I Speak Because I Can. 18/4/10

I am terribly behind with updating this project, as my departure from Melbourne gets closer I find that time is slipping away and I’ve got too much to do! So, I actually listened to this album on the very same day that I finished listening to Plastic Beach, but I have only just gotten around to blogging it. Whoops, must CATCH UP in the next three weeks!

So, being a fan of strong female folk I really enjoyed this album, a couple of the songs have been played to death on JJJ but the album as a whole is quite strong. I can’t get over how young Laura still is, the songs and the tone of her vocals seems much more mature than 19?

Rating: Lovely.
